Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you serve?

The greater Sacramento region, the Placer and El Dorado foothills and Gold Country, the California side of the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region, and the Bay Area and Wine Country. Each region gets a different default recommendation, because the climates genuinely differ: a specification that works in the valley can fail at six thousand feet, where winter heating drives indoor humidity far below the range wood flooring is specified for.

Do you work in Nevada or on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe?

No. Renaissance Floors holds a California CSLB licence only, so we work the California side of the lake and the Truckee corridor and nothing beyond the state line. Incline Village, Crystal Bay, Glenbrook, Zephyr Cove and Stateline are Nevada, and a project in any of them needs a Nevada-licensed contractor. We name those places on this site as geography, never as service area, and we would rather turn work down than take it outside our licence.

Is there a travel charge for outlying areas?

Distance is one of the factors in an estimate, along with scope, access and site conditions, and it is reflected in the number rather than added as a separate surprise line. The estimate is given in person after measuring, so whatever distance means for your project is in the figure you are quoted. If a location is far enough that we are not the right contractor for the job, we will say so instead of pricing defensively.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No — in-home estimates are free, and they are done in person after measuring rather than over the phone. That is deliberate: a flooring number given sight-unseen rarely survives contact with the subfloor, and quoting one would mean either padding it heavily or revising it later. No price appears anywhere on this site for the same reason.
